MEET

Maritza Del Rio

Maritza Del Río earned her master’s degree in Social Work (MSW) from University of Southern California. She previously worked as a Medical Social Worker in Hospitals settings and as a Clinical Director for a Mental Health  office in the community-based setting. Her areas of focus include anxiety, depression, trauma, women’s issues, loss and grief and life transitions. She is trained in the use of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), and Problem Solving Therapy (PST).

Therapy can benefit and serve as a powerful strategy to learn tailored tools to help you navigate your emotions and put you back on track. As you may know, life has a way of presenting people with challenges they could have possibly not imagined would have to face. This can lead to anxiety, depression, grief, and ultimately a life transition. I believe that finding our purpose for life, can help us get through our lives with a more meaningful and mindful perspective.  

Approach

My approach is a mindful one, in which I help clients explore their internal thoughts and emotions their body and mind provide, and guide them so they can have greater awareness and make healthier conscious choices. I specialized in grief and loss, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) and Motivational Interviewing (MI). Clients who work with me tend to need support to break out of negative patterns, have a better understanding of themselves, have a need to find purpose in their life, be able to engage and have healthy relationships, and have a desire to achieve a higher quality of life.


I enjoy meeting each client where they are at, and together exploring what they enjoy in life to build on their strengths and empower individual mental health wellness. Whatever it is you are dealing with in your life right now, you do not have to go through it alone. I would like to help you, and in our sessions together I will meet you with compassionate perspective and ensure you a non-judgmental experience. Let’s work together and get you to your max potential abilities. (I am Spanish speaking as well!)


As we sort through the challenges that brought you to therapy, we will discover and develop these strengths and put these to use in helping you find greater fulfillment and inner peace. My clients can expect a non-judgmental and safe space to be able to be their own self. I actively listen as my clients speak about their vulnerabilities and challenges. I also actively engage with my clients and jointly we explore further insight and information that can lead to creating new skills that are tailored to the needs of my clients and essentially can benefit and improve their life.  


I personally feel that Mindfulness and Meditation can benefit any individual whether they are dealing with anxiety, depression or just life transitions. It allows for the individual to create space within their inner self for a more clear perspective of their challenges. It is why I tend to introduce and hopefully if willing, incorporate such specialty with each of the treatment methods utilized. Clients who work with me are willing to practice mindfulness and meditation as a tool to their progress.
